Rotary International is an organization of 35,000 clubs located in over 200 countries. Its motto is “Service Above Self.”

Rotary International develops service projects and supports local clubs’ work in seven areas of focus: promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water and sanitation, providing accessible health care for mothers and children, supporting education and literacy, growing local economies, and protecting the environment.

Local club members have opportunities for service through club service, vocational service, community service, international service, and service to youth. Major international service projects include the eradication of polio, provision of fresh water in many locations, and disaster relief.

The Rotary Club of Owego has been a member of Rotary International since the Club’s founding in 1920.
