On November 27th, the Owego Rotary Club proudly hosted its first-ever Turkey Trot 5K. Club president—and avid running enthusiast—Rob Fairlie drew on his experience organizing the popular 5K races during the Owego Strawberry Festival to bring a new Thanksgiving tradition to life.

Inspired by the success of those summer events, Rob recognized that Thanksgiving morning offered the perfect chance for visitors and locals alike to enjoy some active fun while supporting the Rotary’s fundraising efforts.

Despite the chilly weather, nearly 50 runners gathered at Marvin Park, eager to burn a few calories before their holiday feasts. The cold didn’t dampen the cheerful atmosphere—smiles, encouragement, and warm wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving were shared all around.

Both the men’s and women’s champions headed home with a festive prize: a pumpkin pie!
