| ROTARY CENTENNIAL PROJECTS | ||||
Village of Owego Bicycle Racks
Our first Rotary Centennial project is the purchase and installation of
ten bicycle racks throughout the village.
With the first three installed, the dedication was held on May 21, 2004.

Bike Tioga 2004
Our Rotary club provided financial support for the printing of brochures and
signs. Volunteers helped with placing the signs along the routes.

Beautification of the Approaches to Owego
Our Rotary Club beautified three of the approaches to Owego with the planting
of flower beds.

||||
Kayak and Canoe Dock
Partnering with the Village of Owego, a kayak and canoe dock was built
on the Susquehanna River in the Village of Owego. This allows boaters to have
access to the various services the village has to offer.

|
River Bank Clean-up
On September 11, 2004 Owego Rotarians cleaned up the brush on the river bank
of the Susquehanna River at Draper Park in the Village of Owego.

Painting of Railings on North Avenue
The Owego Rotary Club took on the huge task of painting 175 sections of
railings on North Avenue along the railroad underpass.

| ADDITIONAL PROJECTS | ||||
Community Swimming Pool
The Owego Rotary Club was instrumental in the realization of the community
pool that was constructed at the Owego Free Academy campus. Our club continues
to support the needs of the pool and its programs.

Marvin Park
Owego Rotary was instrumental in the creation of an outdoor skate board facility
for the youth of our community. The most recent addition to the facility was a
storage shed for maintenance equipment. In the winter months, a picnic pavilion is
converted into an ice skating rink. Our club supports the rink by helping with
material and equipment purchases.

Highway Clean-up
Through the NYS DOT adopt-a-highway project, the Owego Rotary has adopted
a section of Route 434. Club members gather on designated days to clean
litter and debris from this section of the highway.

Youth Exchange
The Owego Rotary Club participates in the Rotary International Youth Exchange
program. Each year the club sponsors up to two inbound and four outbound
exchange students.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)
The Owego Club sponsors several students from area high schools to attend
the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards program. This intensive leadership training
program has a profound impact on the students that attend. Students are selected
by school guidance departments based on the criteria of leadership, citizenship,
interest, and academics.

Scholarship Program
The club started a scholarship program in 2002, awarding $1,000 scholarships
to two area high school graduates each year.

| FUND RAISERS | ||||
Poinsettia Sale
For this annual fund raiser the club members sell poinsettias for the holiday season.

Strawberry Festival
The club sets up a strawberry shortcake booth at the annual Owego Strawberry
Festival.

BC Open Golf Tournament Concessions
Every year the club operates several Coke stands.
|
||||
Annual Raffle
This is the club's largest fund raiser. Only 250 tickets are sold for
$100 each. There are 14 prizes: $10,000 first prize, $2000 second prize,
$1000 third prize, $500 fourth prize and $200 fifth through 14th prizes. The drawing is
held in August.
