It should all do us good once in a while to see ourselves as others see us. Paul Harris

GUEST:

Bob Bassett who lives in Alaska and travels around the world teaching youth. He also manages the Charles H. Bassett Foundation which is a certifying organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award. He will be presenting an award to the OFA Interact for the second consecutive year.

BIRTHDAYS:

Priscilla Hoag, Carolyn Galatzan, and myself (which reminds me of the birthday check!)

Donna is happy that the pool will be opening on June 30 and she has life-guards

Strawberry Festival:

Matt passed around the sign-up sheet. We should be busy. This is our second largest fund-raiser of the year.

Golf:

John will start the sign-up sheet next week.

Paul Harris Dinner/Pass the Gavel: June 24

Mati went to Greenwood with the senior class. Soccer was safer than football. Colin Lounsberry isn’t as fast as he usually is.

Joao went to Batavia to play in a soccer tournament. He met with some discrimination which he saw as part of the reason he is an exchange student and we are confident that he handled himself appropriately – even if others did not. John auctioned off the items from Brazil that Joao contributed and it raised $205 for the NV Interact and the funds are going to an orphanage in Brazil.

Program:

Steve introduced Michelle Evans who is the VP for Aircraft Systems at LM. She grew up in town and John Jones remembers her as an excellent student and athlete. She is pleased to be raising her family in the same community. She went over the structure and accepted questions. LM had $41.9 billion in sales in 2007 with 140,000 employees. She discussed discipline, regimen, and process as the cornerstones of their continuing success.

Last night there was a wonderful jazz concert at OFA. The children of many Rotarians were involved, many of whom are graduating this year. I would encourage everyone to attend the music events at the school. The program is exceptional.
