NEWARK VALLEY INTERACT:

OFA INTERACT:

Tom reported that they have their last fund-raiser for the year this Friday which is a kick-ball tournament. Jillian Strauss was chosen Interactor of the Year

FINES:

Carolyn Galatzan collected money from everyone and entertained and educated us at the same time. She question us on the origin of common sayings such as: “cost you and arm and a leg” (from paintings), “chairman of the board” which had to do with limited chairs and who got to have the seat of honor), “crack a smile” (which had to do with “mind your own bees wax”, personal hygiene, and “not losing face” in front of a fire), and “freeze the balls off a brass monkey”. Orv showed his naval heritage but was slightly off tach. Last was “here comes the big wig” and how wigs were “cleaned”.

PROGRAM:

Laura introduced Joao in her inimitable style. Somehow I think that Joao could have entertained us and kept us in our chairs if he spoke to us in Portuguese. The power of his personality and his indomitable positive spirit are wonderful assets and models. I look forward to the auction of his mementoes from Brazil.
