Owego Rotary members and families were guests of Owego Kiwanis again today because the beginning of the New Year fell on the usual Rotary meeting day. Kiwanis President Pete Windover conducted the meeting. The 50/50 was run by Rotary and fines were done by Rotarian Al Bingley. There were 15 Rotarians present with an equal number of Kiwanians. Rotary will have another “invite a prospective member” lunch meeting in February.
People were only marginally happy, maybe because of the cold.
Paul Flagg, former Owego resident, spoke about Angel Flights, which is free transport for people needing non-emergency medical transport. Paul is part of Angel Flight North East, NAFE, which has 1200 pilots and 100 Earth Angels. Earth Angels transport flight recipients to hospitals or doctors. Paul makes seven or eight flights per year. To date there have been 40,000 flights totaling 11 million miles. Flights could be provided for transplant candidates or organ transport for waiting candidates, regular ongoing chemo treatments, compassion flights, or treatment for severe burn victims, among other missions.
Another interesting program. Details later.
Hard to believe that Orv won it AGAIN.
