I have been extraordinarily lucky. Anyone who pretends that some kind of luck isn’t involved in his success is deluding himself. Arthur Hailey

CONGRATULATIONS TO JUDY WHO'S DAUGHTER WAS SUCCESSSFULLY MARRIED THIS PAST WEEKEND!
Orv reported on the largest foundation dinner. We were well-represented and were a leader in the number of new members.
It has been moved to this Saturday with teams from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 12:00 to 2:00.
Saturday, November 10, at 8:30 AM, meeting across the river at the bottom of Montrose Turnpike.
Judy has taken over from Bill Moon, but Bill still promises to sell many plants. The best way to get your plants is to pick them up at a meeting. Judy passed out recording sheets for everyone. We have contracted to sell 825. The cost will be $10 again this year. To assure that you get the colors you prefer, please order early.
Richard announced that there are only 8 seats left for the show on December 9.
Bill Moon won by getting his ticket from Orv.
Thanks to all members, and particularly John Spencer, all 250 tickets were sold.

Orv’s show will be on December 7, and despite the ominous date, he warns that there will be a tribute to Cal Harris.
Three Cups of Tea It is not possible for a book to interest everyone, but probably everyone in the Club would find at least parts of this book to be interesting. Greg Mortenson was a mountain climber who almost reached the peak of K2. He missed his opportunity when it became necessary to assist another climber down to save his life. Mortenson got lost and was saved by the members of a Balti village in northern Pakistan. This, in combination with the death of his sister, made him resolve to pay back the community by building a school to education the girls in the village. The book is about this and the building of schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan and the possible effects on world peace and international relations. He is a most unusual individual who has met the motto “Service Above Self”.
