Giving frees us from the familiar territory of our own needs by opening our minds to the unexplained worlds occupied by the needs of others. Barbara Bush

GUESTS:

MUSIC:

Carl and Carolyn attempted to drag us through “This is Rotary”

FINES:

John Spencer fined Carl for his choice of a song and also anyone who did not ride a bicycle to today’s meeting.

SUNSHINE:

Richard visited Jan yesterday and shared that he is in very good spirits. He did not get to talk with Carol for a medical up-date

I heard accolade for “Dining Room” which is being put on by the Tiawaga Players.

COOKIES:

Please bring your cookies to the Treadway on Saturday or Sunday morning. If Laura is not available, they can be left at the front desk.

RI PRESIDENT:

Carolyn announced that there will be a press conference with the R I President. Interact members have been invited to participate.

AMERICAN MUSIC THEATER:

Richard announced that he has to tell them how many of our block of 30 tickets we want or the club will be responsible. The tickets are $69 for adults and $51 for students. Please let Richard know by October 19!

MEMBERSHIP:

Donna Townsend and Jack McCreary will be inducted next week.

EVERGREEN CEMETARY:

We will be working to help clean-up Evergreen Cemetary on Saturday, October 27 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Please meet at the Civil War graves area. While we are fortunate to have some of those who died in the Civil War identified and buried here, most Civil War graves are of unknown soldiers. They did not have ID at that time and were only able to be identified if personal effects could be found on the body.

FOUNDATION DINNER: Wednesday, October 24.

LOTTERY:

October 30 I must confess that this has arrived faster than I expected. We need to get our tickets sold. As John keeps reminding us, much of what we accomplish as a Club depends on adequate funds and this is the easiest way to raise a significant amount of money. We have been successful for years. We should be able to do the same this year!

The boys spoke about their weeks and Laura emphasized what excellent exchange students they are.

PROGRAM:

Gwen Smith was unable to speak today, but Matt had one person from each table speak briefly about their occupation which was very interesting.

SPEAKER:

Our speaker next week will be Kevin Brodus who was the assistant basketball coach at Georgetown and is now the head coach of Binghamton University.
