WELCOME BACK TO AL SUNDERWIRTH

GIFTS:

Bernie reminded everyone to get their gifts in by December 12.

We regret to announce that Carolyn Wright’s father died yesterday, just one week after turning 100.

Terry was recognized for his work helping the flood victims.

Carole had knee replacement surgery and is home and on the mend!

POINSETTIAS:

Bill announced that the sale is going well, so far and reminded everyone that we need to sell 200 more than last year.

YOUTH SERVICES REPORT:

Laura requested volunteers for the Holiday Party. The two Interact Clubs have arranged for almost all of the host families. What a great way to increase community involvement and to make the children and the program visible within the communities!

Suzanne went tanning with Karla (and got burned). She went with Karla and her family to the Chestnut Inn for Thanksgiving dinner and then went to Laura’s for dessert. She went to an art museum in Ithaca with Jim and Richard and then went out to eat Thai food. She also got to spend time with the people she had met at Wall Mart and went to Roberson. We have exceptional students and a portion of our club is exceptionally involved.

PROGRAM:

Susan introduced Jeff Barber who owns State Line Auto Auction. The auction is open only to dealers and services dealers primarily in NY, but also from the whole northeast and has dealers come from as far away as Texas and Mexico. They serve as a brokerage. They rarely purchase cars themselves. They provide a service of guaranteeing payment and that the cars are as they are promoted to be. More cars are sold wholesale than retail. Car values change daily and the primary criterion on their sale price at auction. The business was started in 1981 by his father. He has been running it since 1984. They will auction 1200 cars on a Friday in 8 lanes with 8 auctioneers selling simultaneously. They have a GM auction every other Thursday in which one auctioneer sells 600 – 800 cars or two per minutes. Another interesting local program.

50/50 Steve
