INTERACT:

Hannah Barnhart reported that the big effort now is getting ready for the Christmas party when we host the exchange students from the district.

PROGRAM:

Susan introduced Marilyn Bok who discussed the Community Fund and passed out literature. There are four counties involved. Tioga in NY, and Sullivan, Tioga, and Bradford counties in PA. There are over 700 community foundations in the US. The purpose is to be able to pool money to grow endowment funds and reduce administration fees. It also makes it possible to endow a fund with little money which is, otherwise, not possible. They have been in existence since 1915. The local fund now has over $200,000. At times in the past, we have brought together the charitable organizations in the County including Rotary, Kiwanis, Hyde, Truman-Faulkner, Cooper, Bassett, and the Senior Citizens Foundation. The goal is to optimize the quality of life benefits for the residents through the moneys available.
