VISITORS AND GUESTS:

MUSIC:

Carl and Carolyn led us in “The Four-Way Test”

FINES:

Ed had some fines on NYS history. As one of the answers was George Clinton, another piece of trivia is that George Clinton was Vice President for both Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. John C. Calhoun was Vice President for both John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson.

POINSETTIAS:

Bill Moon announced the pre-game show. We sold 678 last year. Since the price to us went up, we will need to sell 700 this year to raise as much money ($2600). We will also be distributing kettles for the Salvation Army. Bill needs help with this. We have raised between $600 and $800 in the past for them.

FOUNDATION SEMINAR:

We only have one attending at this time and the Club would like to sponsor 5 more.

MRINALINI AND SUZANNE:

Mrinalini had the floor this week telling about their trip in NYC (in which they did everything in the city) and their shopping spree with Laura (the Princess) to the Thrift Store in Binghamton.

INTERACT:

We had a nice report from Interact. They are going to try to have a ball toss to raise money as they did last year. There was also something about “starter rabbits” which I did not completely understand.

PROGRAM:

John Spencer introduced Tom Reidy who motivated us on Business Leadership and Development. He is the author of Winning It & Losing It. He used the movie “Wall Street” to communicate some of his points and emphasized the importance of The Art of War by Tzu. He emphasized the importance of a sound strategy and that all battles are won before they are fought. He also used Warren Buffet’s example of taking the risk out by good research and keeping the emotion out of business actions. Leaders have the ability to communicate their vision. We have to believe that we can be successful (Jack Welch) and understand the perspective of the consumer.
