SPECIAL THANKS go to new member Karla Johnson, Laura Costello, and Orv Wright for making this 100th anniversary meeting special.
DISTRICT CONFERENCE will be held on May 6–7 at the Villa Roma in Callicoon. NY. They are looking for gifts of gift bags, particularly items from anyone’s business.
Richard announced that the orientation will be held during the meeting on March 15.
Laura announced the we have been told of our first exchange student. She is Chichiro Fukisaki from Ota-City, Japan.
Judy presented Annette Schweiger with a Centennial mug and key chain in thanks for her work planning the February 19 anniversary dinner.
Thursday, February 24 at 7:30 a.m. at the Treadway.
There were 62 members at the end of January. Attendance was 75%; 25 members had 100% attendance.
Board actions taken:
The next board meeting is Thursday, March 17, 7:30 a.m. at the Treadway. All Owego Rotarians are encouraged to attend monthly meetings of the board.
Fred Ajaeb quizzed us about Iraq and raised lots of money from our lack of knowledge.
There were many today.
Orv introduced past Owego Rotary presidents who spoke about what they would do if they were to be president next year. Richard Schaal, Tom Milligan, Harry Rogers, John Jones, Tom McCormack, and Fred Beaudry all spoke. Fred also talked about Art Stiles who founded our club in 1920.
